If you ask exceptional individuals to identify influences on their success, they often name a particular educator who saw a spark in them and made a personal investment to cultivate it and help it grow.  In my twenty-five years as a teacher of mathematics and special education, I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to fulfill this promise to my students.

My sessions are grounded in a deep knowledge of mathematics and a genuine respect and appreciation for my students. In order to be effective, kids must enjoy our time together and leave feeling renewed and motivated.

By design, learning is meant to be a challenge. If it’s not, the student is not at the appropriate level.  But struggle is often confused with failure unless it is accompanied by encouragement and recognition of genuine effort. 

I make the case to students that a high standard is important, then follow it up with quality instruction, ongoing encouragement, and an honest dedication to their success so your child has a safe space to be challenged and grow.

Over time, students with proper support will see the real academic results of their investment.  This authentic, hard-earned success becomes the most gratifying motivator and instills them with a confidence to persevere.
